[Candy Cane]

When you think of Christmas sweets, the first thing that comes to mind is probably candy canes, which are white and red candy canes shaped like a cane .

Before it was even associated with Christmas, candy canes were invented by German church officials to soothe sore throats, and they also gave candy to children during long church services.

The modern association arose when church members would hand out candy canes to people at Christmas, and later on, people started hanging candy canes on Christmas trees.

As mentioned above, candy canes are edible, but they are also often displayed on Christmas trees and around the home, often wrapped in beautiful ribbons.

They are usually cane-shaped, but they also come in the form of hard lozenges, though this is not the most common form.
