International Bee Day | Thank you to bees all over the world!

May 20th is Bee Day . But why May 20th?

This is apparently because May 20th is the birthday of Anton Jansa, the 18th century beekeeper who pioneered the modern beekeeping style.

In fact, Bee Day was established just a few years ago. It was established in 2018 as a day to raise awareness of the serious problems facing bees and to show gratitude to the bees that produce honey.

With the weather becoming less favorable due to air pollution and other factors each year, honey production is becoming increasingly difficult. For example, in France, domestic honey production in 2021 fell below 10,000 tons for the first time. In the past, it was common to harvest 35,000 to 40,000 tons of honey each year. The French consume 40,000 tons of honey each year, so this is clearly not enough. It seems they have no choice but to rely on honey from overseas. This serious problem is causing beekeepers to worry.

A bee produces about one teaspoon of honey in its lifetime.

Let's be thankful to all the bees in the world!
